Tye the Torchbearer
Summer 2012 and Tye is getting in on the action for the London Olympics. The torch was carried from Greece to London by a series of people chosen from their communities. Each one ran, walked, rode (in the case of Zara Philips) or powered their wheelchair about two hundred yards carrying their lit torch and dressed in this uniform (more or less lol) before lighting the flame for the next runner's torch and so passing the Olympic Flame on it's journey. They were able to keep the torches afterwards.
During the opening ceremony the Flame came down the River Thames on a powerboat, and was taken by a runner up a tunnel into the Olympic Stadium. One of the sweetest memories I have of that ceremony is the torch being carried past the workmen who built the stadium, they lined each side of the tunnel and put their hands out, the runner touched each one as he carried the Olympic Flame into the stadium to light the Beacon.
